E-readers

[MP_doc]

Does anyone have opinions on the various e-reader devices available these days? I am considering the Amazon Kindle (it's at the top of my list currently), but have been reading reviews of others as well. I definitely don't need the iPad as I really am just looking for an e-reader and am perfectly happy with my laptop for all of the other fancy computer stuff.

Any opinions or suggestions are welcome, thanks.

I have an Amazon kindle and absolutely love it. Great for reading those 800 page computer books without actually having to hold the 6 pound book and very nice for highlighting and saving notes to be reviewed later. I've also tried the Sony and nook and honestly wasn't that impressed. But since I just tried each for a few minutes after I've already had the Kindle it's kind of a bias opinion.

You may want to wait to try the Apple iPad to see how it feels to read. But honestly reading that bright of a display and holding that big of an object doesn't seem like it would be that great of a reading experience. Although I do think the web experience on the iPad would be a lot more enjoyable than the Kindle's.

That's the kind of experience that I was hoping that I would hear... I think that the size and weight are good points (esp. when considering the voluminous computer books!) but I think the eInk technology is what's going to push me over the edge into the Kindle marketplace.

I would get a Sony Reader. I don't think the Kindle supports PDF or EPUB.

Kindle does support PDF now.
