problem with firefox addon, favicon picker
« on: July 01, 2009, 10:06:17 PM »
so i have been using this addon called favicon picker to add favicons to the bookmark toolbar, but after upgrading to firefox 3.5 it is not doing what i want it to do. i checked and it is compatible.so i am not sure what to do,i emailed the developer but no response. here are the steps that used to work i bookmark a page to the toolbar, right click and properties, browse to the favicon i found for the site and select the favicon now the favicon is showing in the properties section but when i click save, the favicon is not showing,i am attaching a screen shot of what i am left with(the one for codeplex)so my question, is there any other way to make the favicon show on the bookmark toolbar or in the bookmark folder? this is a good clean look and provides quick acsess to my favorite sites i hope there is another way!

Simply travel to the desired site and hold down the left mouse button on the favicon and drag it to the bookmark bar...

Patio thanks for the reply, but its not working the same as before have a look at pic, also before the upgrade i was able to go to addons and click on favicon picker and options there used to be options that are not there now the only options( see pic)and i have tried all the diffrent comobinations such as  checked all, checked only one, etc..... are there settings in about:config that i could change? i am looking but , you guys are the Pro`s ! also incase you were wondering the only way i have the favicons that are displayed is because i use moz-backup to backup and restore my profile so after installing 3.5 i simply restored my profile.

Wouldn't that just add a bookmark to his bookmark toolbar?
He wants to change the icon that is displayed for the bookmark.

bobgar34, are you using "Favicon Picker 3"?

When i do it it places the favicon there...
I then select Properties for it and delete the Text to save real estate.

He wants to change the favicon to a different icon.

For example, SpellCheck.net does not have a favicon.  Favicon Picker would let you choose an icon to be displayed for this site.

I just downloaded Favicon Picker 3 and that is how it works.
Right-click the bookmark, click properties, and the icon can be changed from there.

I am guessing bobgar34 is using an older version of Favicon Picker.
