    Thunderbird
    « on: July 10, 2009, 09:56:08 AM »
I use Thunderbird as my mail programme and Firefox as the web browser.
During the past four days thunderbird will not show any images or icons in mail I recieve, (ie, I have Martin Lewis's mail shot) it used to load as the normal web page, now their are boxes where the icons should be and other images are not available. I have been able to select "load images" in the header bar to solve the problem in the past. This option is not available any more I also have a problem with Firefox not loading Javascript pictures. I have not made any changes recently although there have been automatic updates to FF.

I have The boxes enabled for Java and Javascript and load images automatically in the 'tools-options-content'

    Any help please?

What versions do you have of Thunderbird and Firefox?
What do you mean by Javascript pictures?

Does it happen to all emails with images? Different senders?

        I have FF 3-0-11, and Thunderbird 2,0,0,22
        It happens to all e-mail.
        Perhaps I mean Java pictures.
Example, I visit a house exchange web page. When I click a link on the web page, which should open a picture of the house, and the status bar indicates "Javascript:picture....." There is no picture displayed.  If I use IE then the link works, so the problem is with FF.
Not sure if the pictures not displayed in Thunderbird are connected. I have had this trouble with mail before and there was a warning banner saying pictires were not loaded, and a button displayed giving me the option to display them. This is no longer available.
        Thank you.

This is only a feature of the website, not Firefox.

Not necessarily. The code that the website uses might not be compatible with this version of Firefox. Post a link and I'll have a look.

This is an example of the problem, It happens on others.

When I click on the links to view or homepage nothing happens, if I open a new tab from the link, the tab has a blank page with the title javascript:viewpicture. I can open the contact mail link.
PS, just upgraded to FF 3-5, same problems.
          Thank you.

            PS,
Would the problem with FF, (if this is the case) have any bearing on  Thunderbird not loading pictures?

The picture loads fine in my FF 3.5, so it's not a compatibility issue.
What extensions, if any do you have installed in FF?

              Also, try FF Safe Mode.

Verify your Java version here: http://www.java.com/en/download/installed.jsp
              Update, if necessary.
Uninstall all previous Java versions, through Add\Remove.

                 Extensions.
I have four. Java quick starter, English dictionary, AVG safe search and security toolbar.  I also have Google web accelerator and photo screensaver which are not compatible with FF but the disable button is greyed out and I can not uninstall them from "add remove programmes"

I have the latest Java version (verified by your link) Not sure how to check in safe mode.
                Thank you.
