DVD drive not functioning correctly
« on: May 16, 2005, 01:30:52 PM »
I use my DVD Rom drive to copy home produced DVDs ( no macrovision) to my DVD -RW drive. First disc works fine using Nero 6 quick copy set-up. Inserting the second disc, the IDE 16x ROM drive will not recognise DVDs at all, only CDs..says it's a CD only drive. Rebooting cures the problem, temporarily.
Using Windows XP, Nero 6, and plenty of memory and hard drive capacity. Any suggestions?

Have you tried updating the drivers for the CD Drive?

Yes, I did try, but the seemed to be a problem with the website of the manufacturer, Artec...and an email came back undelivered.

Thanks for the suggestion. Maybe I should ditch the drive and get a new one, they are not really expensive, let's face it!

Well, that's the easy way out... It's your choice... What do you want to do?

Check with Nero, they're pretty good about fixing those things.

Replying to Flame:
Well it may be the easy way out, but there seems to be no practical alternative. Updating the drivers didn't work.  I can install a new DVD Rom drive, and keep the old allegedly DVD drive for use aas a CD drive I suppose. Do you think there is any practical barrier to having all these different drives installed?
