      check the monitor plug.

EI Systems is a PC World brand of laptops, there is no seperate screen.

pkb1: What you can do is plug a spare moniter into the plug at the back and see if that works.

In which case my original reply is pertinent, and it is a separate screen.

Do you have another monitor that you can try?

Do you have another computer that you can test that monitor with?

well, it sounds to me, like the red channel is out. But this is often caused by a pin not connecting with the video card.

I had a monitor that would do that as well; red would dissapear (purples become blues, yellows become greens...)

If I had to bet I'd say it was the monitor.

Nope, unfortunately I don't know of any software issue that could cause this.

              On the other hand; it can't hurt to check;

have a look at your "display" in control panel; (right click the desktop and select "properties", or "personalize" for vista).

check the Settings Tab/Icon; make sure the colour is set to "32-bit colour". 8-bit colour can cause some strangeness with colours as well.

If this is 32-bit already; then it almost surely is the monitor (of course, assuming you've eliminated the plug). There is also the remote chance that it is the video card... but I have never heard of that happening.

              I agree with BC here...
For a final test also you could borrow another monitor and hook it up to see if in fact it is the monitor....

try setting the display to 16 bit color
right click the desktop on an empty spot click the bottom entry on the menu
find where it says color quality choose 16 bit
(i have had green go out when in 32bpp)
do not use 8 bit it will look very bad
also some video drivers you can turn color chanels off
check for any kind of manufacture specsific control panel for you video card
and make sure RED is on ;D
