I would recommend installing the printer drivers again.

I tried to load the printer software and it wouldnt take it. Not sure what a printer driver is. Do I have the printer driver?

It's the software that tells your computer what printer you have and how to communicate with it.

It would be on the disk(s) that came with your printer(s).

      And re-booting replaces/refreshes the spool...

I tried to reload the disc that came with the HP 5580 but it stopped and said the issue was the print spooler. I clicked on "fix" and it said it could not continue...problen in PC

        Did you restart the computer?

If you did, can you check the services and make sure that nothing disabled the print spooler?

I must have disabled the print spooler when I went crazy and got rid of programs to gain space. Where do I find "services" to find out what I may have done. thanks

ok I found services and found many things disabled. Including print spooler. I changed many of those things to automatic, restarted the computer, tried to reload the printer/scanner software and get it halfway done and it says it is unable to load.....error 1068    I will have to stop for tonight, before I have a stroke.....I am 72 and very exciteable.......will try again  tomorrow ..maybe.  thanks very much... The OP is best to decide what gets them too excitable.  Some people find different types of stress in different things.

I have put the print spool on automatic, but everything tells me that there is no print spool in my computer. In my haste to clean up my computer, I erased something that got rid of the print spool, I think that it was a Dell program that I erased......help

payman03, I have a reccommendation (but i want someone of a higher pay grade to comment on the suggestion BEFORE you try it). Open the computer in "safe mode". Select the option to open at last known "good configuration" and see if that solves the problem. If that doesn't do it then i would be looking at a operating system repair or restore point solution. I think the problem is more to do with a removal of something from the operating system than the printer. truenorth
