      I assume it has a built-in firewall.  When you access the router's setup pages, you'll be able to tell what functional capabilities the hardware provides.

      The decision to update or not update the firmware is yours to make.  I have no personal knowledge of the BEFSR1 firmware versions (nor do I want to research them).

        ah okay then, just wondered for the extra protection since security is lagging for the moment.  ;)
