    reloading XP from scratch
    « on: March 17, 2011, 02:39:54 AM »
My laptop is getting slower and slower so I want to wipe it clean and reload it from scratch. It is an Acer Ferrari 3200 currently at XP Pro service pack 3.
I have also heard that service pack 2 and 3 are no longer available from Microsoft.
Should I attempt a reload from scratch? and if so, where can I get SP2 and SP3 from if I decide to go ahead.

Do you have an original XP CD? If so, you can download sp3 from Microsoft's website and create a slipstream sp3 XP CD to do the installation (http://lifehacker.com/#!386526/slipstream-service-pack-3-into-your-windows-xp-installation-cd). If you do not have an original XP CD, you'll have to purchase one.

Thanks for the info - I assume that I do not have to reload SP2 then

      SP3 includes SP1 and SP2
