Well, with all the information you are providing I know it's going to be hard to believe we don't have an immediate answer for you, but we don't.
Did the system ever boot to the OS? If so, what happened between the last time it started properly and the first time it didn't (new hw, sw, system crash, virus, etc)? These things rarely happen spontaneously - what led up to it?
