    USB slots on dell monitor

    I have a Dell 1707FP monitor with USB slots on it.
    I'm running Windows 2000 Professional.
    My computer does not recognize any of the usb ports. I've opened the My Computer file & it only shows...c drive, a drive etc. Nothing at all about the usb.
    The monitor picture is fine and nothing looks physically damaged.
    Any ideas would be appreciated.

    I suspect you'll have to plug in a USB cable from the monitor to the computer in order to activate the USB ports in the monitor.  Are all the ports rectangular, or is there one that looks more square?

    Plus they will not show up as drives unless something is plugged into them...

      I plugged a flash into the slots, didn't work.
      My son has a monitor like mine...he doesn't have a usb cable from computer to monitor. That's why I'm confused...I thought I'd have to have one.
      Any thoughts?

      I guess you haven't got the monitor manual, because if you had, you would surely have looked in it and seen that you need a USB cable from monitor to computer if you want the ports on the monitor to work, right?

      d)
