My camera (kodak easyshare)won't connect to the computer?
    « on: October 14, 2009, 04:35:45 PM »
Okay so I have a kodak easyshare m1093IS and basically, when I plug it through the usb cable, nothing pops up and the power button flashes its blue lights. I BELIEVE it's suppose to be black ? Not too sure.. and so I removed the memory chip thingy and plugged it straight into the comp but nothing popped up. YES i HAVE installed the software that came along with it but it's not detecting a connection.

Once the connection was established and the pop up came up asking what software you would like to use to open the hardware and there was NO software to select from even though I already installed the software

Please do help me out, Thanks!

Open My Computer, it will be under one of the drives listed.  Don't know why software is not working.  Post back with you computer make and model number, along with Operating System and version/update.

i don't think it's the software, k I got it to connect, but there is no way for me to access it

You know when you plug something in and it gives you a bunch of software for you to open that hardware? there is absolutely NOTHING for the camera

and i'm using xp .. if it matters i got the version 8 of that software

So are you saying it doesn't show in My Computer ? ?
It will have a drive letter and be listed as a mass storage device...

      If not try Windows Explorer....

PS> The EasyShare software is junk...avoid it if you can...

Right clik My Computer and select Manage...then Disk Management...does it show there ? ?
If so right clik it and select Properties and report your findings...

k So i did what you said

weird thing is when I hold the flashing pwr botton, it connects but as soon as I let go it disconnects

WHILE HOLDING i was able to get this from the property

"No drivers are installed for this device.

If you are having problems with this device, click Troubleshoot to start the troubleshooter."

After I let go I got:
"Currently, this hardware device is not connected to the computer. (Code 45)

To fix this problem, reconnect this hardware device to the computer.

Click Troubleshoot to start the troubleshooter for this device."

          Unplug the camera and re-boot.
Go to Control Panel/Add/Remove programs and un-install the Kodak software and re-boot
Go back to Control Panel/System/Hardware/Device Manger and see if the camera is listed...if it is right clik it and select Remove/Uninstall...re-boot.

          Power down.
Plug the camera in and power up...Windows will now recognise it as a mass storage device and you should be good to go.

          Let us know...
