    problems with my IBM PS2.
    « on: November 16, 2009, 10:14:28 PM »
    I have just replaced the RTC module, and tried to restart my machine, only to get some error codes. OS would not boot, nor can i get it to do a thing. It was working fine when it was put away in my storage closet, but when i dug it out, and replaced the RTC nodule, Nothing. The errore codes i get are;
    0A0000 FFFF 203
    201
    165
    163
    Thanks in advance for any help you can give me.

      RTC = Real Time Clock Module. In my machine, it was the Dallas Semiconductor's DS1287. Since the DS1287 is no longer produced, i installed the DS12887, it's modern replacement. As to what function it has exactly i have no clue, but it has something to do with the machine's CMOS, amongst other things.

        Is CMOS battery contained within the RTC or is it external?

        I guess, it's internal.

        Thanks for the info, i'll check it out. The RTC module is a Dallas DS12887, the modern replacement for the original DS1287,  and yeah the CMOS battery is contained within the module. Also, It's the same computer i had mentioned earlier in another thread.
