    Chat Commands
    « on: November 27, 2009, 07:38:55 AM »
    Hi all,

I would like to know where I can find a list of commands that can be used in CH chat.

Eg: /nick --> changes the nickname
/part --> logs you off of the chat

    Are there others?
Eg.  how to change to a new channel?

    Thanks

    Hi all,

I would like to know where I can find a list of commands that can be used in CH chat.

Google will find many pages on this.   :)       Here's a couple:
    http://www.ircbeginner.com/ircinfo/ircc-commands.html
    http://irchelp.org/irchelp/irctutorial.html#cmds

From client to client, you may find some small differences in the commands.
The most used, basic commands should be fine though.

/part  causes you to leave the channel.
/quit would cause you to log off the server.

If you are using a web interface,  I suppose that /part might have the effect of causing you to "log off of the chat".

    Probably hundreds.   :)

    /join #channel
will cause you to join a channel if it already exists, and if you are allowed to join.
If #channel does not presently exist, you will create it on-the-fly, as you join it.
    Note:   the  " # "   is necessary.

To find other channels to join, you might like to try:     /list

When you visit those web pages mentioned above, be sure to note /msg and /query , as these can be very useful too,  if your client accepts them.

    Some suggestions:

Apparently you have some method of connecting now.   Keep it up... the more you are there, the more little tips you will pick up.

If you find it interesting, and wish to enhance your experience some, check out an IRC client program too, instead of just using a web interface.
    Here are a few:
    http://www.kvirc.net/
    http://www.hydrairc.com/
    http://www.mirc.com/

Hydra and KVIRC are free.    mIRC is uncrippled shareware.

    I hope this helps.
