scandisk found some bad files
« on: December 02, 2009, 01:35:19 PM »
Trying to help a friend, he runs win98, scandisk found some bad files & stored it to files (FILE0000) but now his system wont let him reload win98. Is there any way we can restore them ? Thanks

I don't think there is much point in trying to restore them. These FILE0000.chk are created by Scandisk.

The best thing you can do is start your computer up in DOS. Keep the CTRL key pressed as its starting up. Then select Command Prompt Only. At the C:\ just type in Scandisk and enter. If you are prompted about certain files just Fix them or Delete them and let it do a Full scan so you can check for any bad sectors.  ;)
