    I, want to turn off some of the items that automatically run on start up. in the past I have gone to 'Run" and typed "CONFIG" and been able to turn items off. When I do that on this O/S the page shows up with icons, and no tabs?  Seems like it should be something simple. Help

    Do not use msconfig to manage startup items - it should be used exclusively as a diagnostic utility. One very simple utility for managing startup items is Mike Lin's Startup Control Panel. I've been using it for a very long time - it's a bit dated but still a great tool and it's FREE.
