USB short? Hope?
« on: January 09, 2010, 12:28:11 AM »
I recently purchased a Optiplex GX-280.   750GB HD, 4GB RAM,  P4,  2.8Ghz, XP Pro.  One day when plugging in a usb memory stick the computer blue screened and shut down.  Ever since, when I try to power up, I get an error that there is nothing on SATA 0 and SATA 2 and to either press F2 to setup or F12 for bootup.  BIOS is not seeing the hard drive at all.  I've tried unplugging the hard drive and plugging it back in, but that did not do the trick.  I have an older Dell that does not have compatible hookup to test the hard drive independently.  The computer was cheap, but not cheap enough to buy another or spend $30 an hour to have looked at.  Any ideas, advice?

Andrea75, Seeing as you appear to be still able to access the BIOS ensure that the SATA controller is enabled. Sata port "0 " is the 1st SATA port. Try that and let us know. truenorth
