system ini file missing
« on: January 20, 2010, 04:15:23 PM »
Hi all!  I'm hoping someone can help me.  Recently, my youngest erased the system ini file off my Windows ME computer.  I can't get past the start-up, my floppy drive is fired, so there's no boot disk.

Do any of you tech-savvy souls know how I can fix this, short of using a hammer? :)

I have another computer which runs on Vista, but there's important files on the other unit, and I was going to give it to my kids.  I appreciate any ideas/advice you may have.

http://www.bootdisk.com/bootdisk.htm

try the Windows ME OEM bootdisk.

EDIT:

oh woops, didn't see the fried drive thing.
how do you know its "fried"?

WinME has no MS-DOS, so how will that work?

WinME is still based on DOS; there is simply no easy way to get into it. (that is, MS basically just removed the boot into DOS mode and Shift-F5 during boot up features).
I was trying to dereference Null Pointers before it was cool.
