Uninstall Avast/Install Online Armor ++

I have a zip file of Online armor++  which i now wish to install on this computer to replace the 4.8 version of Avast. I have a concern that for one reason or another my installation of Onlinearmor might fail-(just being cautious). If i were to " stop on- access protection" for Avast then do my install of Onlinearmor would that be adequate to prevent a situation of having two virus scanners installed at the same time? Or should i just cross appendage extremeties and hope for success after totally uninstalling Avast? Of course if the Onlinearmor turned out to be successful i would uninstall Avast. truenorth

yes, that's fine.

As long as you don't have two antivirus softwares both actively protecting your computer, then it's fine.

Uninstall Avast.

Restart the computer.

Install OA.

OK all the appendage extremeties crossing was for naught. Result =
1.Zip file from the alternative site evilfantasy had reccommended was extracted and does appear in designated drive location as a "setup.exe" file.
2.4 attempts to have it install have all resulted (even with the unwanted allowance of "giveaway of the day"  to be able to maintain a touchy feely relationship with the computer ) did not alter the eventual outcome.
3. Which is that the period of the free giveaway has expired and directing me to today's free giveaway.
4. This even though it was stated on either their site or the manufacturers site that once downloaded the client had 30 days for installation.
5. I do have the licence key but obviously i do not get to a point of using it.
6. So now as i feared i have nothing as Avast is gone.

Why not reinstall AVAST? AVAST 5.0 is out and it's doing good so far 

Or you can get the trial version of Online Armor ++ from this link and I assume you can go ahead and insert in the giveawayoftheday key after installation of program and convert the trial to a full version.

2x3i5x,Already done.Did not desire to stand around naked for too long. Avast 5.xxx is installed and running--even registered. I shall have nothing further to do with "giveaway of the day". It was nothing but a head ache from the get-go.truenorth

Just a final update on this post. I emailed the manufacturer of this software to inform them of the difficulties i was having. They sent me an alternative link for the download. Then i had a problem with the install--took 7 tries before success. Their tech support was there all the way and never gave up. This effort on their part is consistant with the reputation they appear to have from comments i have read on line. Just believe some credit now needs to be directed their way. truenorth
