How many partitions can DOS and Windows recognize
A computer running Microsoft DOS and Windows is capable of supporting up to 24 different drive letters or partitions, or A-Z with A and B being assigned to your floppy disk drives.
Note: When creating partitions using Microsoft fdisk, the computer is only capable of having one primary partition per hard drive. All other partitions will be extended partitions.
