Generic BIOS password listings
Many of us forget computer passwords, including those used to enter BIOS or CMOS setup. Thankfully, in some cases, it's possible to use a generic BIOS password to access the computer rather than resetting an unknown password manually. Once you've logged in with a generic BIOS password, you can change it to one of your choosing.
The following sections contain lists of generic passwords used by major BIOS manufacturers. We cannot guarantee that any of these passwords work on your computer as manufacturers update and change their systems and software.
The OEM (original equipment manufacturer) of your computer is not the same as the BIOS manufacturer. To determine which type of BIOS your computer is running, you must look at the motherboard's documentation. You may also be able to examine the motherboard itself to see if the BIOS name is on or near the BIOS chip.
