How to hide the small arrow that appears on Windows shortcuts

As shown in the picture, each of the Microsoft Windows icons has a small icon in the bottom-left portion of the icon picture.

To hide this icon requires you install or have TweakUI on your computer. Once it's installed on your computer, follow the steps below.


Following the steps listed below will arrange your desktop icons back into list format if they're spread across your desktop.

  1. Open TweakUI
  2. Click the + next to Explorer.
  3. Select Shortcut.
  4. In the Shortcut overlay, select None to use no overlay for any Microsoft Windows icons.
