Do I need to ScanDisk or Defrag a CD or DVD?

No. A CD (compact disc), DVD (digital versatile disc), CD-R (compact disc recordable), and Blu-ray cannot be modified by Microsoft ScanDisk, Microsoft Defrag, or any other disk checking utility. These utilities are only used to fix issues that may exist with computer hard drives and floppy diskettes.
