How to find version of installed Internet browser

Internet browsersIt's highly recommended that you use the latest version of your Internet browsers, to avoid any security issues and to have the most current features available to use. Knowing the version number of your browser is key to determining if you need to upgrade your browser. To determine what version you're running, view the About page for each browser, as outlined in the steps below.

Microsoft edge users

  1. Open the Microsoft Edge Internet browser.
  2. In the upper right-hand corner of the screen, click the The more icon in Microsoft Edge. button.
  3. From the drop-down menu that appears, select Settings.
  4. Scroll to the bottom of the Settings menu to the section labeled About this app.

Microsoft Internet Explorer users

Method one:

  1. Open the Microsoft Internet Explorer browser.
  2. In the upper right-hand corner of the screen, click the gear icon and select About Internet Explorer from the drop-down menu that appears.

Method two:

  1. Open the Microsoft Internet Explorer browser.
  2. Make sure the menu bar is open by pressing the Alt key.
  3. In the menu bar, click Help and then select About Internet Explorer in the menu.

Mozilla Firefox users

Method one:

  1. Open the Mozilla Firefox Internet browser.
  2. Press the Alt key to open the menu bar at the top of the screen, and then select Help.

Method two:

  1. Open the Mozilla Firefox Internet browser.
  2. In the upper right-hand corner of the screen, click the The open menu button in Firefox. button.
  3. From the drop-down menu that appears, select Help.

Google Chrome users

  1. Open the Google Chrome Internet browser.
  2. In the upper right-hand corner of the screen, click the The icon used to bring up the Google Chrome menu. button.
  3. From the drop-down menu that appears, place the mouse pointer over Help.

Opera users

  1. Open the Opera Internet browser.
  2. In the upper left-hand corner of the screen, click the The menu button in Opera. button.
  3. In the drop-down menu that appears, select About Opera.

Safari users

To view the About page in Safari, click on Safari in the menu bar at the top, then select About Safari from the drop-down menu.

In the About Safari window, the first number listed is the Safari version number. The second number, inside parentheses, is the Safari Build (Webkit) number.
