Opening Microsoft Paint is a fairly straightforward process, but it does vary depending on which copy of Windows you are running. To proceed, locate your version in the section below and follow the instructions.
Windows Vista, 7, 8, and 10
- Press the Windows key.
- In the Search text box, type Paint.
- In the list of search results, click the Paint program or press the Enter key.
Windows XP and older versions
- Click the Start button in the lower-left corner of the desktop.
- In the Start menu, click All Programs, then Accessories, and then click the Paint program.
How can I open Microsoft Paint on a Mac?
Microsoft Paint is only included with Microsoft Windows and is not available for the Apple Mac. If you want to edit pictures on a Mac, you'll need to use an image editor that is compatible with macOS.
