If you're experiencing problems with your Apple Watch, resetting it and starting fresh helps fix all problems. Resetting an Apple Watch erases all user data and settings and reverts the watch to its factory settings and software. Additionally, to sell your Apple Watch, resetting it removes your data, helping keep your information and identity safe.

To learn how to reset your Apple Watch to the factory settings, follow the steps below.

How to reset an Apple Watch

  1. Press and hold the power button on the side of the watch until the Power off option is displayed on the watch face.
  2. Press and hold the digital dial (called the Digital Crown by Apple) on the side of the watch until the Reset option is displayed.
  3. Tap the Reset option on the watch face.
  4. Tap Reset again if prompted a second time.

The reset process may take several minutes to complete. Once done, set up the Apple Watch again or sell it without worrying about your data being stolen.
