Describes an application that is open and working. For example, because you are reading this page in your Internet browser, it would be considered the active application or window. If your browser has multiple tabs open and you're reading this page, it's in the active tab.
Tip
If the window is not maximized and there are other windows in the background, it's considered an active window in the foreground.
