Add or Remove Programs

Windows logoLater renamed to Uninstall a program, the Add or Remove Programs link opens the Programs and Features window in Microsoft Windows. The Programs and Features window allows users to view what is installed on their computer, as well as remove and unwanted software. The Add or Remove Programs feature was first introduced with Windows 98.

How to view or uninstall programs

Windows Vista, 7, 8, and 10

  1. Open the Control Panel
  2. Under the Programs section, click Uninstall a program.
  3. A window similar to the one below should appear with a list of all of the programs on your computer.

Windows 7 Add or remove programs

  1. To remove a program, select it from the list, and then click Uninstall just above the box.

  1. Press the Windows key, type Programs and Features, and then press Enter.
  2. A window similar to that shown above should appear.
  3. To remove a program, select it from the list, and then click Uninstall just above the box.

Windows XP

  1. Open the Control Panel
  2. Double-click Add or Remove Programs.
  3. A window similar to the one below should appear with a list of all of the programs on your computer.

Windows XP Add or Remove programs

  1. To remove a program, select it from the list, and then click the Change/Remove button.
