Atom may refer to any of the following:

1. Atom is a publishing protocol defined in RFC 5023. It is designed to replace, and improve upon, the RSS web content distribution protocol.

2. The Intel Atom is a family of low-power computer processors designed for mobile devices that are developed by Intel and was first announced on March 2, 2008.

3. Atom is an open-source text and source code editor. Atom was retired (sunsetted) on December 15, 2022, due to lack of development and enhancements. More information is available on the GitHub blog site.

4. An atom is a particle of matter that uniquely defines a chemical element. An atom consists of a central positively charged nucleus surrounded by one or more negatively charged electron. The nucleus contains one or more fairly heavy particles known as protons and neutrons.
