First introduced in December 1982 by Autodesk, AutoCAD is the most commonly-used CAD (computer-aided design) and drafting software. The program is utilized by architects, engineers, graphic designers, city planners, and project managers due to its powerful 3D modeling capabilities. AutoCAD is mainly used to design products and structures for commercial use.

While the program is mainly known for 3D, the latest iteration also has vastly-improved tools for 2D modeling. AutoCAD is available in many languages, including English, Spanish, French, German, Japanese, Korean, Chinese, Russian, Italian, and Polish.
