Boss may refer to any of the following:

1. With businesses, a boss is an employee in charge of managing other employees. Depending on the business, a boss may be in charge of only a few people, an entire group, a department, or all company employees.

What's the difference between a boss and a leader?

A boss can also be a leader; a leader is a person managing other workers while also inspiring them to be their best. To be more of a leader than a boss, keep the following in mind.

  • Lead by example.
  • Always work with a "we" instead of "me" attitude.
  • Listen and be open to new ideas from everyone.
  • Encourage staff to do their best and build on each person's strengths.
  • Take accountability for mistakes and learn from them.

2. With computer gaming, a boss is a strong enemy at the end of a level or an area protecting valuable loot. Depending on the boss's difficulty, it may be possible to defeat the boss by yourself or require additional help from other players.

Tip

If you're having difficulty defeating a boss, your character may not be strong enough. You'll need to work on leveling your character and their loot and come back to defeat the boss later.
