A camera tripod is a three-legged portable apparatus used to support, level, and stabilize a camera or other photographic devices. The tripod utilizes a mounting head to attach devices.
Types of tripods
There are many types of tripods, including pan-tilt head and ball head. Another type of tripod is a monopod. A monopod is used instead of a tripod in cases where there is more movement required by the photographer. For example, at a sporting event, the monopod would be ideal, as the photographer needs to move around often for a shot. A monopod requires the photographer to hold the camera, but still gives stabilization to the camera.
