Alternatively known as Cmd+1, Command+1 is a keyboard shortcut most commonly used to switch to the first tab in an Internet browser or other programs with tab support. Below are other programs that use this keyboard shortcut and related information.

How to use the Command+1 keyboard shortcut

To use this keyboard shortcut, press and hold either Command key, and while continuing to hold, press 1.

Note

For this shortcut to work, use 1 above the top row keys, not on the numeric keypad.

Command+1 in macOS

In Apple's macOS, pressing Command+1 displays the items in the Finder window as icons.

Command+1 in an Internet browser

With all major Internet browsers (e.g., Chrome, Edge, Firefox, Safari), pressing Command+1 switches to the first tab.

Command+1 in Microsoft Excel

In Microsoft Excel and all other spreadsheet programs, pressing Command+1 opens the Format Cells window.

Command+1 in Microsoft PowerPoint

In Microsoft PowerPoint, pressing Command+1 switches to Normal view.

Command+1 in Microsoft Word

In Microsoft Word, pressing Command+1 changes a line, paragraph, or all highlighted text to have single spacing.

Tip

You may also press Command+2 to set the line spacing to double, or Command+5 to set it to 1.5 spaces per line.
