Current drive

The term current drive is used to describe which drive is presently being accessed or used by an operating system or software program. Referring to the image to the right, for instance, if you were to save files to your primary hard drive, the current drive would be (C:). If you were playing an audio CD, the current drive letter would be (F:).


Drive letters can vary from computer to computer, based on the hardware differences.
