DARPA

Originally known as ARPA (Advanced Research Projects Agency) and later renamed in 1972, DARPA is short for Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency. DARPA is the central research and development organization for the Department of Defense and is responsible for managing and directing projects for them. DARPA also played a major role in the creation of the Internet.
