Updated: 07/18/2024 by Computer Hope
Computer with two separate processors that work together. Dual processors are commonly used for intensive processing demands and improves the computer's overall processing efficiency. It is important to note that not all operating systems and programs support dual processors. Often this is true with older operating systems such as Microsoft Windows 98; however, newer operating systems, like Microsoft Windows XP and later, do support dual processors.
Note
A dual processor is two separate devices and should not be confused with dual-core or quad-core processors that have multiple cores in one CPU (Central Processing Unit) package.
