Released on February 1, 2010, Fiverr is a website that allows anyone to buy and sell services (gigs) online. A large variety of service categories are offered on the website, including video and music production, graphic design, writing, programming, business and marketing, and tutoring. When selecting a service, users can attach instructions using audio, text images, and video. When a seller's service is requested, the seller has a specified time to accept and carry out the job, get more information, or decline the job.

In 2013, Fiverr began allowing users to set prices and charge more than $5. Today, a Fiverr seller can choose their rate, and gigs start at $5 and may be as high as $1,000. When purchasing a gig, Fiverr also charges a service fee starting at $2.50 for each transaction.
