Flash BIOS

A BIOS (basic input/output system) chip that can be written to by software or code. Older BIOS chips required that the chip be replaced. However, with flash BIOS, you can boot using a special disk or execute a set of instructions and update the BIOS without having to open the case. The picture below is an example of what the flash BIOS may look like on your motherboard.
