Fresnel zone

The Fresnel zone is a three-dimensional, concentric, ellipse which defines the pattern of radiation in optics and radio transmissions (or any other radiation of waves from an origin). Named after the physicist Augustin-Jean Fresnel, these zones are used to calculate optimal signal transmission between two objects where obstructions are present.
