FTTP

Updated: 04/30/2020 by Computer Hope

Short for fiber to the premises, FTTP is a type of broadband connection that uses fiber optic cable to connect a home or building to the Internet. Because fiber is a symmetrical connection and because of the technology it uses, it's one of the fastest types of connections. However, because it requires a company to lay a fiber optic cable to your home or office it's not available in most areas. Google Fiber is a good example of FTTP.

Note

FTTP should not be confused with FTP (file transfer protocol).
