Initially developed by Life on Air in 2016, Houseparty is a discontinued text and video chat application for computers and mobile devices. It allowed users to create group conversations, schedule virtual events, send images, and play interactive multiplayer games with other users. Up to 8 users could join a Houseparty group at one time, allowing them all to video chat.

Houseparty was purchased by Epic Games in 2019. Shortly after, it became one of the most downloaded apps in the Social category on the iOS App Store and the Google Play store. After reaching this peak in 2020, the app came under scrutiny because of alleged security vulnerabilities. In October 2021, the app was officially shut down by Epic Games.
