Started in November 2003, ImageShack is a free image hosting service that allows anyone to save their images online. It has become a popular site for users to store their images. Users can store pictures of various types, including JPEG (Joint Photographic Experts Group), GIF (graphics interchange format), BMP (bitmap), and TIFF (tagged image file format), and the file size must be 5 MB or less.

During peak operations, ImageShack was said to have served 100,000 concurrent user requests. The primary method of uploading pictures is through the imageshack.us website, but a desktop application is also available. The desktop app is available for Windows, Mac, and Linux operating systems.
