Released on November 2, 2003, Inkscape is a vector graphic creation and manipulation program for Windows, macOS, Linux, and FreeBSD computers. It is a free-to-use and open-source alternative to the industry standard software, Adobe Illustrator. Inkscape features include path creation and alteration, stroke styles, gradients, and support for Adobe AI (artificial intelligence) files and SVG (Scalar Vector Graphic) files. Inkscape also supports standard image files, including JPG and PNG (portable network graphics) for rotoscoping.
