item may refer to any of the following:

1. In general, an item is an individual thing, among other things that are part of a list or collection. For example, with the following bullet list, each bullet is an item of that list. In other words, "Two" is an item of the following list.

  • One
  • Two
  • Three
  • Four

2. In a computer game, an item describes anything found, worn, equipped, or otherwise used in a game. For example, while playing an MMORPG (massively-multiplayer online role-playing game), your character may find a weapon that can be equipped. Once that item is equipped, your character appears with the weapon. Other items include clothing, armor, books, food, ingredients, potions, junk, etc., that is collected and used while playing the game. If items are not being worn or used, they're stored in your characters inventory.

In some games, an item may be bound to your character. For example, an item can be BOE (bind on equip) or BOP (bind on pickup) to make the item rare or only obtainable after completing a task. See our bind term for further information on these terms.
