Letterhead describes a blank document that a company uses to send correspondence. Letterhead can be sent digitally or as a hard copy. A letterhead generally has the company's name and logo, and sometimes contains contact information like a phone number, address, or website URL (uniform resource locator).

Before computers, a letterhead was a preprinted hard copy inserted into a printer and used to print official company correspondence on it, making it an official company document.

Below are different examples of how a letterhead can be formatted. These are two of hundreds of ways to format letterhead for yourself or a company. The first example is shown with a logo and company name in the header, with contact information in the footer. The second shows only a watermark of the company logo centered on the page.
