Live taskbar preview

Live taskbar preview in Windows.

The live taskbar preview is a feature that was introduced in Windows Vista and available in all subsequent versions of Windows. It allows the user to hover their mouse cursor over the open programs in the Taskbar and see a thumbnail view of them. This feature is useful for checking in on other programs that aren't currently in the active window. For example, you could see if an antivirus scan completed.

The image shows a preview of the Mozilla Firefox browser with the Computer Hope website open.

Note

Windows 7 improved this feature by allowing users to see a thumbnail view of programs as a fullscreen.
