Modal window
Updated: 09/23/2024 by Computer Hope
In a GUI (Graphical User Interface) windowing system, a modal window is a child window created by a parent application that prevents the parent window from being used until the child window is closed. It creates a "mode of interaction" where the new window demands the user's attention, usually because the information it contains is of above-average priority.
