406 may refer to any of the following:

1. 406 is an HTTP (hypertext transfer protocol) status code for an unacceptable request. Often, it is returned when the user's browser requests information from the server using an "Accept-" header, such as "Accept-Charset" or "Accept-Language." If the server cannot fulfill the request, it returns the 406 code to indicate failure.
