Overtype mode

Overtype modeAlternatively referred to as OVR in Microsoft Word, overtype mode is a text mode that will overwrite text to the right of the cursor as the user types. This mode, if it is supported, is usually entered and exited by pressing the Insert key.

In the example picture shown on this page, you can see each mode in action. In the overtype mode, when test is being typed, it overwrites Computer to become test ter with text being overwritten.
