PAC

Short for proxy auto config, PAC is a type of file that tells web browsers how to choose the correct access method when trying to find a particular URL (uniform resource locator). More specifically, a PAC file is a JavaScript function used to determine if a web browser request should go directly to a specific destination or be forwarded to a proxy server.

The URL of the PAC file can be manually configured or located automatically using WPAD (Web Proxy Auto Discovery) protocol.
