Project Gutenberg

Project Gutenberg is a group of volunteers who digitize texts in the public domain and publish them online. Since its founding in 1971, it has produced over 48,000 free ebooks that can be downloaded from its website for free.
All the documents published by Project Gutenberg are available as plain text. Some of them are also available in HTML (hypertext markup language), PDF (Portable Document Format), and ePUB, among other file formats.
These texts include classic works of literature, such as Homer's Iliad and Charles Dickens' A Tale Of Two Cities. The first text published by Project Gutenberg in 1971 was a reproduction of the Declaration of Independence.
